He is really a great baby. He pretty much only cries when he is hungry, which is every 3 hours now. Around 8 weeks he started sleeping through the night for the most part. He still wakes up around 2, but I give him his paci and he goes right back to sleep. He usually wakes up around 6, eats, and then we play for a little while. Peek-a-boo, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Patti Cake are his favorites right now. I just love it when he laughs. He has his Daddy's dimples, they are too cute! After that, we usualy take a walk and he takes his morning nap while I work out uptairs and then we start all over again with the whole eat, play, nap routine. He's pretty good about staying on routine. At night, we eat around 6:30, then 8:30, then bath time, and then eat again and go to sleep! He goes down around 9-9:30. As hard as it is, I just lay him in his bed and give him his paci. He usually falls asleep within 20 minutes. I only go back to him if he starts to cry. It's really hard not to rock him to sleep at night, or cuddle with him until he's asleep, but this is what works for all of us and I think it lays a good foundation for the future. (Cole and I both would probably still like to be rocked to sleep!) I also think it's the back to back feedings at night that help his sleep through the night. This is something that Will started on his own, but I found out later it's called "stack feeding." It works for us though, and I'm happy to get some sleep now!
It's amazing how much he has changed in almost 10 weeks! His eye lashes and hair have really darkened up. He looks just like Cole one day, and the next he will look just like me. I woke up this morning and he had changed since yesterday. Today I think he just looks like Will. He definately has my eyes, but that's about all he got from me! He is all Daddy, right down to his hands and feet. His hands are as big as his friend Ellie's, who is almost 8 months old! Cole says he'll be a great football player with those hands.
He is also holding his head up much better. He likes to sit in his Bumbo seat and look around. He loves ceiling fans, lights, and this huge painting of apples that hangs above our couch.
He had his 2 month check up about 2 weeks ago. He weighed 13 lbs and was 23 1/2 inches long! He got 2 vaccines that day, only one was a shot. He did really good, barely made whimper. He cried more when Cole dressed him to leave the doctor's office. He hates getting dressed!
Cole and I have also been able to have some time to ourselves a few times, which has been really nice. Of course, Grandmama and Pop or Nana and Poppa have no problem coming to stay with him a little while so we can go out.
I'm supposed to go back to work on November 8. I really do miss my job, but it's going to be hard to leave Will at home. I can't stand the thought of not knowing what he's doing all day. However, Cole's mom has graciously offered to come to our house and keep him while he's still so little so that is a big relief. I think I will be happy to be back in the working world for a little bit during the week. I'm very lucky that I only work 3 days a week. I really love what I do and miss all of my co-workers, doctors, and patients!
